Rotary Literacy Month - March

In 1985, RI President Carlos Canseco declared basic literacy to be a pre-condition to the development of peace. He said, “The only real difference between people is the level of educational. It has nothing to do with races, religions or cultures. It is the level of education that really affects the stability of the world.” Through this rotary emphasis, more than half of 33,000 Rotary clubs around the world had fully addressed the challenges of literacy in all educational levels including teacher training, especially the literacy project in Thailand that had been greatly successful and were proudly accepted into our national educational system. And later RI had designated the first in the world “Rotary’s Lighthouse Literacy Project” as a real model for Rotary clubs in other countries especially underdeveloped and developing countries, by using the project’s Concentrated Language Encounter – CLE method as procedure model.

This Rotary year our district has fulfilled the Thai CLE projects successfully as continually from last year’s Thai and English languages. Besides this, many clubs in our district have done more projects focusing on literacy i.e. Library project, Computer for Education project etc. RI President’s Change Maker Award Thanks to 72 clubs who sent their

RI President Change Maker Award applications to me which totalling 86.75% of all clubs, passing criteria award to get their citations from RI within this coming April, hopefully. And all certificates will be given in our District Award night, May 25, 2012 at the Long Beach Cha-Am Hotel, Phetchaburi accordingly.

Presidential Citation Award To recognize club’s contribution to TRF’s 2 criteria and Membership’s 4 criteria, all qualified clubs must send their donations through our District TRF Chair and register club’s new members by Member Access through RI website within 31st March 2012 Please send the Presidential Citation Award application to me by 3rd April 2012.

2011-2012 District Awards This Rotary year we have provided various District awards to recognize clubs and Rotarian individuals who show their good example of hard efforts and dedications to fulfilling RI, district and clubs’ goals effectively. I would encourage all clubs to send each club’s Report of Five Avenues of Service in one combined issue together with five separated reports of Club Membership, Club Administration, Club Service Projects (Community, Vocational, International and New Generations), Public Relations and The Rotary Foundation. All six issues of the said reports must be sent to The Rotary Centre in Thailand, addressing Gov. Orachorn Saisrithong before 20th April 2012. Let all clubs conclude all said reports and send them within timeline, please.

District Awards Night & District 20th Anniversary Celebration 25th May 2012, our District Awards Day starting from 13.00-17.00 hrs. including the final round of Rotary Information contest. From 18.00-22.00 hrs., it will be an event of our District 20th Anniversary Celebration which I would graciously invite all club members and district leaders to witness our district and clubs’ success this year and also sharing the historic night of our district 20th Anniversary Celebration altogether at Long Beach Cha-Am Hotel, Phetchaburi.
