The Rotary Club of Patong
Beach was asked for assistance by the Department of Public Health of
Patong Beach (Kathu District) with the administration of the vaccine
against Polio for underprivileged children in the Patong area. This
is part of a nationwide program (Thailand), in two parts: the National Immunization Days (N.I.D.): each year, one time in December
and the second in January. The goal is to reach all children under
the age of 5 year.
This year, the N.I.D. (PolioPlus) dates will be 14 December 2011 and 18 January 2012.

This campaign repeats yearly around the same dates and is part of Rotary International's PolioPlus Program, sponsored by the Rotary Foundation, the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The vaccine doesn't need injections and is administered in liquid form
in the mouth (2-3 drops) of each child.
Volunteers from our Club participate every year,
once in December and once in January with officials from the local Public Health Department,
and reached hundreds of children in slums and on construction sites.
