Rotary Club of Kho Samui Tsunami Aid Concert with participation of Rotary Club of Patong Beach

Kho Samui 15th of January 2005 

Rotarian Larry (Vocational Services Committee chairperson and Rtn. Bradley (Community Services Committee chairperson) attended the all day Tsunami Aid Concert at Kho Samui this last Saturday  the 15th of January 2005.  The event was really fantastic and the Samui community really came together to assist their Samui Rotary Club with donations for their efforts.  Food booths were set up by restaurants and hotels which all donated the food, beverage sales, and special t-shirts were sold as the main way for fund razing.

The Samui Rotary club would like to take on a specific project like supporting a small community in a hard hit area, for which they request our assistance to identify possibilities to them. 

Their goal was to top 1 million Baht by 2AM for this concert.  Just prior to the deadline, they were with in a few thousand Baht.  All the food was gone and all the t-shirts were gone, so not many ways to get this few thousand Bath other than cash donations.  They went over the top when Larry donated his Patong Beach Rotary Polo Shirt that immediately got a total of Baht 4,000!

In all, great fellowship, great time, and again another night without much sleep!
