Computers & Peripherals Donation: Kathu Non-Formal Education Center.
(located in Patong Beach, opposite the Andaman Beach Resort) Project Coordinator: P.E. Arnaud Verstraete.
School Principal: Mrs. Lalintip Suppaplug.
Installation of Equipment: 22 March 2005.
Main Sponsor: Thanks to the contributions made by the Loddon Norfolk High School.
Official Handover to the School: ~18 April 2005 (when teaching restarts, after the Songkran Holidays) 10 Computers with 15" Flat Screen Displays, a heavy duty Laser Printer and a Color Bubble Jet Printer, were installed in the school room on the second floor, above the Municipal Library of Kathu District. All the IT-gear is WiFi connected together and able to access the Internet via an ADSL-Broadband Modem with Wireless Router.
This will replace the destroyed ones (by the Tsunami, of course...) in the groundfloor building. They are needed for the Non-Formal Educational Programs of Kathu District, teaching English & Computer Skills to more than 400 enroled students.
Teaching will restart, "at full speed", after the Songkran Holidays (April 13 = Thai New Year), in cooperation with the programs set up by the Volunteers of the OpenMindProject Organisation (NGO), under the supervision of Mr. Sven Mauleon (from Sweden), its founding Director.
