Rotary Club of Patong Beach Tsunami Relief Trip Report

Project Name: Toetee Family Support and Long Term Scholarships

Project Start Date: 19 March 2005

Background:  The Five Toetee family 5 children lost both parents in the Tsunami and have been taken in by their elderly grandparents.  The 5 children are all extremely humble, and very good students eager to learn English.  The financial bourbon has been very difficult for the Grandparents since the lose of both parents and their plight was first brought to our attention in March of 2005.

This family was first visited by Rotarians Brad Kenny and Larry Amsden on 19 March 2005 after hearing of their plight.  They had received some money from the government for the father and mother’s loss of life.

It was recommended that the grandparents be given 3,000 Baht family support for 8 months and full scholarships for all 5 children through high school graduation.
