President's Message
I am beginning the new Rotary year by thanking all fellow Rotarians of my club for bestowing their belief in me to lead the club for the 2nd time for the Rotary year 2023-24.
Taking over the presidency a second time was not on my bucket list. President-Elect, Hans Guehlich had to make a time-out for medical reasons. We all wish Hans a speedy recovery and we are looking forward to welcoming him back to Phuket and taking over the Presidency as planned.
It was a remarkable achievement for the last year’s team under PP Best, the first year after the pandemic we could start having regular meetings.
The dedicated and passionate team of officers and directors and members are my pillar of strength. We will endeavor to explore new avenues of opportunities in serving our communities.
I believe it is a privilege to be able to serve you in the capacity of president and be a Rotary Club of Patong Beach steward, alongside you.
The Rotary International President, R. Gordon R. McInally, has chosen Create Hope in the World, as his presidential theme for 2023-24. "The goal is to restore hope — to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves," McInally said at Rotary's annual training event for incoming district governors.
District Governor, Dr. Chatchawal Telavanich, set his goals for the district and laid them out in the district directory. One of his main focuses is using online services, like My Roary, Rotary Club Central, and other electronic media.
As Rotarians, we always seek to serve the community and we live up to the ideals of service above self. We work on hands-on projects and raise funds for worthy causes that assist disadvantaged and deserving people. The work we do and our relationship with our community and those we help change us as individuals. This year we look forward to continuing with several projects which are running for several years, like the swimming program for children, and the scholarship program but we also will conduct new projects.
Friendship, bonding among Members, and fellowship will be the top most priority to make the club one big family, where each member has a sense of involvement and togetherness.
Yours in Rotary
Walter Wyler
